Getting Comfy in the Home

These past couple weeks have been nothing short of a whirlwind! Things have been so crazy lately and I'm having trouble finding 5 minutes to take a breather and mellow out. However, I did find a few moments to explore Building 1 and all it has to offer. Needless to say, I have a "future home" wish list:

love this.

totally digging the wall art clock

love a lemon/green apple color pallet!

this would be perfect at the lake!

anything wine related is a sold item with me!

where do you put the light bulb?

I would die for this. This. Is. A. Must.

Now, all I need is a home to put these great ideas to good use.

Goodnight!

Not so Hotlanta...

Okay, first off, let me go ahead and break the bad news. My Tigers lost to Georgia Tech. My parents drove down from NC to come to the game and it would have been nice to have them see their Alma mater leave with a W. However, that totally wasn't the case. (31-17, Tech) *sigh*
I'm preparing myself for tomorrow. I work with nothing but Georgia Tech fans, I live in a city catered to Georgia Tech, and I also live in an apartment complex that houses mostly Tech students. See the trend? None the less, I will proudly rock my Clemson gear without shame.

Tailgating behind  The Varsity

No tailgate is complete without boiled peanuts!

Throwback!! We're we just the cutest?

And shout out to Scotland High School, my Alma mater, for beating our rival, Richmond Senior High for the first time in 17 years and ranking number 1 in the state! Way to go, Scots!

Moving on...

While my parents were in town for the weekend, we went shopping for my apartment. My mom and I were on the hunt for anything and everything (see my last post for a better explanation). After hours of hunting and searching for the right pieces, I finally have wall art and pillows! Snaps for me!!

It's crazy how I can look for weeks for this and can't seem to commit to anything, yet the second my mom comes to help, we find everything that day. I guess it goes to say I'm not great shopping by myself. Can we say confessions of an indecisive female?

Side note, it's freezing here. I'm pretty sure Greenville is warmer than Atlanta. The things I would do to have a fireplace in my apartment! I decided the alternative to cranking up my heat would be to make something warm. Insert homemade vegetable beef soup:
Thank you Paula Deen!

Not interested in cooking to warm up? Here's something I'm obsessing over. I WILL have this by Christmas...

Burberry Quilted Coat- yes please

We can add this too!

Anyways, enough rambling! I need to be productive.

Baby Steps

After graduating from college and moving down to Atlanta,
I had no idea how much "stuff" I would need, since I've never lived alone. After all, I've lived with multiple people (among my family and roommates) for 21 years!

After making a list of what I need, I quickly realized I literally had nothing but an overwhelming state of mind and a pizza pan.

My dad, who is the "thinker" of the Dyches household told me to prioritize and take it "one project at a time". I guess that's the answer I deserve from an engineer.

First on the list....a COUCH! Who knew a couch would be the number one?
(Lying on the floor got old pretty quickly)

Here's my experience...keep in mind this is WITHOUT my parents and the only thing I had was a fresh, new (cute) tool kit.

I had my eye on a sleeper sofa at IKEA, perfect for visitors and my small living room. The woman in the department told me there were 2 medium sized boxes. I thought to myself "that's perfect, easy transport to my apartment!"

Little did I (and apparently the representative) know, the couch consisted of 4 HUGE boxes. I asked my friend Sam, who has a decently sized SUV to help me bring it back to my apartment, thinking it would be a piece of cake.
Um...not so much...

If you only knew how long it took us to put this in her car.
Keep in mind, they left two girls to tie these boxes down.
Results are impressive, huh?!

So, after unloading the car (and purchasing a bottle of wine between us two), we were left with 4 overwhelming boxes. Uh....oh.

Both Sam and I have never assembled anything before, so we were a little apprehensive.

Getting through the first 3 boxes was easy. Getting to the small box full of hardware was a bit scary to say the least. I freaked out, not knowing a thing about bolts, screws and anchors. After a pep talk from my dad (and a tad bit of drama on my behalf), we decided to give it a whirl.
I mean, we both have college degrees. I've had finance exams harder than this, right?!

5 hours, a bottle of Shiraz and a ton of trail-and-error fails, we did it!
Talk about feeling accomplished.

Trust me, I've sent these pictures to every person who would be in doubt.

The couch has been up and running for about 2 weeks now and it's still very much in tact. A celebration is in order.

On to the next 500 things on this infamous list. Next up: pillows.

Cheers!

Falling in love with fall

Fall makes me so happy.
The leaves are turning and the weather is getting chilly.
Whoever said Christmas was the "most wonderful
time of the year" clearly isn't a fan of football, bonfires
and candy corn.

Here are some of my favorite things about fall:

I love fall leaves. These colors are amazing.

GO TIGERS!! Best season yet!
(I hope I didn't just jinx us)

I literally wear this almost every day. I had no idea
I could get so much use out of a watch!

Enough said.

Cooler weather means winter coats! I am beyond OBSESSED
with trenchcoats, peacoats and raincoats.
My collection gets bigger and bigger each year.
I think I need a bigger coat closet...

These Colin Stuart boots are a must for fall.
They are comfortable, stylish and can go with
almost anything. Truly a staple.

I think every girl can agree that leggings > pants.
Simple math.

love.

Modern Family won 5 Emmys this year.
Apparently I'm not the only one who loves the show.

Michael Buble
Come to think of it, he's my favorite all year long

I could keep going for hours. Enough for now!

Hi, I'm a newbie

So bear with me, I'm quite new at this.

It seems blogs are all the rage these days
so why not involve myself in something else that will keep
me from doing actual work, right?

Today's topic? Hair.

I'm one of those "boring" brunettes who can't seem to
find anything special to do with my hair.
As a result of my lack of shall we say, hair creativity,
I've created my Hair Wish List

I'm not usually one for bows but I love this look.
cute and very low maintenance- sounds like a winner to me

everyone loves a braid. period.

this is something Rachel Zoe would love.
therefore, this is something I would love.
end of story.

love this, love her
I mean really?! she even has her own google search under
"Carrie Underwood hair"
(you know your hair has made it big when....)

So, now that my wish list is complete
and my creative juices are flowing,
I'm off to overdose on Biotin.
